Lazio consider Alaba

Serie A heavyweights Lazio are considering a surprising move for former Real Madrid defender David Alaba, Corriere dello Sport writes.

The Austria international is a free agent after leaving Los Blancos earlier this summer and has yet to find a new club. Alaba has struggled with injuries in recent years and played fewer than 600 minutes last season.

Lazio have already signed Danilho Doekhi, Josip Sutalo and Diogo Leite, but head coach Gennaro Gattuso wants another centre-back reinforcement, and the club are actively considering moving for Alaba.

Man Utd held Mane talks

Man Utd and Liverpool held talks with Wolves wonderkid Mateus Mane in the summer transfer window, TEAMtalk claims.

The 18-year-old was one of the breakout stars of the previous Premier League season. Mane impressed despite Wolves' relegation and attracted the attention of various suitors. However, he ultimately opted to stay at Molineux.

The youngster felt that a full season of regular football would be more beneficial than immediately linking up with an elite Premier League team and not playing. Man Utd and Liverpool could return for him next year.

Arsenal eye Neto

Arsenal are among the clubs "keeping tabs" on Chelsea winger Pedro Neto, as per CaughtOffside.

The Portugal international was the subject of intense speculation in the final days of the summer window, fielding interest from Al-Hilal, Man City, Tottenham and even Liverpool. Chelsea's asking price of more than €100 million successfully deterred his suitors.

However, Neto's long-term future at the club remains uncertain. The interest isn't going away. On the contrary, it seems to be growing, with Arsenal now also said to be monitoring his situation.

Chelsea target Barrios

Chelsea are interested in Atletico Madrid midfielder Pablo Barrios, according to Sport.

The Spain international is being touted as Xabi Alonso's preferred replacement for Enzo Fernandez, who joined Man City on Deadline Day. Chelsea failed to sign Lamine Camara from AS Monaco and therefore will need a new midfielder next year.

However, Atleti do not want to lose the 23-year-old, who has made more than 140 appearances for the club in recent years. Chelsea, though, would be willing to pay up to €100m for Barrios.

Man Utd could still sign Page

Man Utd could still tie up a deal for Leicester wonderkid Louis Page after failing to sign him on Deadline Day, Ben Jacobs understands.

The Red Devils attempted to finalise the signing of the 18-year-old in the final hours of the window, but a large gap in valuation meant that they ultimately pulled out of the deal. Leicester reportedly wanted more than €10m for the versatile midfielder.

Despite this, Man Utd remain interested and could restart talks soon. "They could well continue these negotiations in the next few days, with still a view to a pre-agreement," Jacobs said.

"Louis Page to Man Utd is not dead, and even if they pre-agree it outside of the window, it won’t change that much because I suspect he was always going to stay at Leicester this season anyway."
