Arsenal eye Martin Odegaard repeat with Real Madrid deal

Arsenal are ready to whisk one of Real Madrid’s most promising players away from them, with Mikel Arteta’s side eyeing a move for youngster Victor Valdepenas.

Xabi Alonso’s departure could prompt Valdepenas to consider his future at the Bernabeu, as he was liked by the previous manager. He has yet to get a chance to play under Alvaro Arbeloa and was not in the Champions League squad for Tuesday’s clash with Monaco.

The move for the 19-year-old signals a change in strategy for the Gunners, who have signed a string of first-team-ready players in recent windows. Now they are looking to strengthen for the future.
