Arsenal are interested in Serhou Guirassy, according to a report.

The Stuttgart striker has been on fire this season, playing a key role in the Bundesliga side getting back into the Champions League under Sebastian Hoeneß. The Guinea international has netted a ridiculous 27 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions this season, but it is not just his form that has made him an attractive commodity.

As had already been the case last summer and in January, Guirassy will yet again be relatively affordable this year. The striker has a release clause worth a measly €17.5 million and this has Stuttgart sweating over his future. After snubbing a move in the summer and the winter, many expect that Guirassy will be one of the myriad Bundesliga stars on the move this summer, though his destination is not yet clear.

Man Utd are once again said to be keen, while the likes of AC Milan and West Ham were also previously interested. In recent days, Borussia Dortmund have been touted as a potential suitor in German media, but now Arsenal have supposedly entered the mix as well.

Guirassy to Arsenal?

That's at least according to CaughtOffside, which claims that Arsenal are 'keen to target' the sharpshooter this summer. On paper, it does make sense. FootballTransfers exclusively revealed on Friday that Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu are reconsidering their transfer plans.

We understand that signing a super clinical, big-money striker is not a priority anymore due to Kai Havertz's impressive goalscoring form in recent months. Instead of spending €100m on Viktor Gyokeres, Arsenal will look to sign a cheaper option that will allow them to allocate funds elsewhere.

We revealed that Benjamin Sesko has thus become a top option due to only costing €50m, but it seems the RB Leipzig striker isn't the only bargain being considered. Guirassy would be even more affordable, though it would certainly be a surprise to see him end up in north London.

Sesko is 20 and still has massive potential whereas Guirassy is an injury-prone 28-year-old who had never before been anywhere near as prolific as he has been this season. Arsenal will surely be aware of the Guinean's exploits this term, but actually signing him is a completely different kettle of fish.
