Out of contract in 2024: The best free agents available on a Bosman

July 1 has now passed, which means European-based footballers on expiring contracts are now free agents.

These unattached players are now able to sign for new clubs on a free transfer. Many stars have indeed already completed free transfers to their new clubs.

All free agents were able to negotiate a Bosman Transfer to a new club since January, with the free transfer officially going through on July 1.

The biggest name who was available for a free transfer was Kylian Mbappe. The France superstar, regarded by many as the best player in the world, has joined Real Madrid on a Bosman Transfer.

In the Premier League there are some massive names who have left their clubs. Chelsea's Thiago Silva left the club after four brilliant years to join Fluminense. Chelsea replaced him with another free transfer as Tosin Adarabioyo arrived from Fulham.

Man Utd released Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial, Liverpool offloaded the retired Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip and Adrian, while Eric Dier and Ivan Perisic left Tottenham.

Lloyd Kelly of Bournemouth, meanwhile, joined Newcastle United on a free transfer.

In Spain, Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos has retired after Germany were eliminated from Euro 2024. Kroos' Madrid teammate Nacho Fernandez departed for Saudi Arabia after spending his whole career at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Barcelona released Marcos Alonso, while Atletico Madrid lost Mario Hermoso and Memphis Depay. Gabriel Paulista joined Besiktas. Athletic Bilbao legend Iker Munain left the club on a free transfer.

In Italy, Adrien Rabiot's contract expired at Juventus and it is unlikely he will sign a new deal. Piotr Zielinski has left Napoli to join Inter on a free transfer. Mehdi Taremi of Porto also moved to Inter on a free transfer. Lazio winger Felipe Anderson joined Palmeiras on a free transfer.

AC Milan's Olivier Giroud left on a free transfer to join LAFC in MLS. Simon Kjaer's Milan deal also expired. A whole host of players have left Serie A champions Inter, including Juan Cuadrado, Alexis Sanchez and Davy Klaassen.

In Germany, Mats Hummels and Marco Reus are two veteran legends who left Borussia Dortmund.

In France, aside from Mbappe, PSG also lost Keylor Navas, Layvin Kurzawa and Sergio Rico.
