Man City reach full agreement to sign Marc Guehi - Fabrizio Romano
Manchester City have reached a full agreement to sign Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi before the end of the January transfer window.
The England international was expected to join Liverpool last summer, however the deal collapsed at the final hurdle and he is now on the verge of a mid-season move to the Etihad Stadium.
As confirmed by FootballTransfers last week, Pep Guardiola’s side have been in advanced talks over a deal for Guehi following the recent injuries suffered by first choice centre-back pairing Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias, and a deal has now been concluded with Crystal Palace.
We understand that Arsenal were also interested in landing the 25-year-old, with Mikel Arteta a huge admirer, but he will be moving to the Etihad Stadium this month, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.
"BREAKING: Marc Guehi to Manchester City, HERE WE GO," he revealed on social media.
"Official proposal accepted by Crystal Palace right now - understand fee will be around £20m. Guehi has ACCEPTED move to Man City. Exclusive story, now confirmed."
It comes after the football transfer news expert had previously posted on X: “Exclusive: Manchester City advance on Marc Guehi deal as big approach has been made in the last 12h.
“Manchester City presented [an] important proposal to Guehi in terms of contract, eventually ready to proceed also with Crystal Palace. Deal now closer with Man City.”
Marc Guehi to join Man City
Guehi, who has made 188 appearances for Crystal Palace since his arrival in 2021, has less than six months remaining on his current contract at Selhurst Park, and he will soon become Man City's second signing of the January transfer window following the arrival of Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo.
Guardiola’s side are currently second in the Premier League table, six points behind Arsenal, while they are also among the favourites for the Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup this season.
Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Guehi will not feature for Palace versus Sunderland on Saturday, with his move to Man City set to be announced shortly.
