Arsenal Transfer News Today: Gyokeres confirmation as signing announced
FootballTransfers runs through all the latest Arsenal transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Viktor Gyokeres and Martin Zubimendi.
Gyokeres to join
Viktor Gyokeres is on the verge of joining Arsenal after agreeing personal terms with the north London giants.
Mikel Arteta’s side are yet to finalise a transfer fee with Sporting CP, but an agreement is now extremely close and Gyokeres is firmly expected to secure an Emirates Stadium switch.
Benjamin Sesko was also wanted by Arsenal, but the Gunners have set their sights on signing Gyokeres and a deal is on the verge of being completed.
Zubimendi announced
Arsenal have officially completed the signing of Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi for a fee of €65 million.
The midfielder has penned a five-year contract with Mikel Arteta side, keeping him at the Emirates Stadium until 2030, and he will link up with international team-mates David Raya and Mikel Merino in north London.
Upon confirmation of his move to Arsenal, Zubimendi told the club’s website: “This is a huge moment in my career. It's the move I was looking for and one I wanted to make. As soon as you set foot here, you realise how big this club and this team are.
“I set my sights on Arsenal because their style of play is a good fit for me. They have shown their potential recently and the best is yet to come.”
Madueke offer
Arsenal are set to send an official bid to Chelsea for Noni Madueke, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The England international has agreed personal terms on a five-year deal with the Gunners and talks are at an advanced stage as Arteta looks to sign a new winger capable of operating on both flanks.
Madueke is open to joining Arsenal, although the north London side are yet to match Chelsea’s asking price of €58m,
Chelsea want Dowman
During negotiations with Arsenal over Madueke, Chelsea reportedly asked about the potential availability of 15-year-old wonderkid Max Dowman.
The teenager is set to be involved in the first-team squad at the Emirates Stadium next season, but Chelsea want to bring him to west London amid their pursuit of the best youngsters in world football.
However, Arsenal reportedly rejected Chelsea’s proposal for Dowman as they see him as the future of the club.
Exclusive: Nwaneri won’t join Chelsea
In addition, FootballTransfers can exclusively reveal that Arsenal will not sell Ethan Nwaneri to Chelsea.
The England U21 international is wanted by Chelsea, amid rumours of an exit, but we understand that Nwaneri has already agreed to extend his contract at Arsenal as he remains happy with his boyhood club.
A permanent exit is therefore not on the cards and Arsenal are desperate to keep him.
