Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim will oversee a summer transfer window for the first time at Old Trafford in 2025 as he strives to bring the club out of its malaise.

Article continues under the video

Now that the Erik ten Hag era is over, the club will need to act more shrewdly in the transfer market and the finances at Old Trafford don't make for good reading, so it remains to be seen how much Amorim will be given for a squad overhaul.

Departures will undoubtedly be a priority, also.

The recent loss in the Europa League final means that Amorim won't have as much money to spend, so there will likely be a focus on youth, with wonderkid Patrick Dorgu being signed from Lecce in January. Geovany Quenda was a target for Amorim, but the Red Devils have lost out to Chelsea in the race to sign the Sporting winger.

Our live Man Utd transfer blog brings you all the latest news surrounding the Red Devils, including exclusives from our own reporters as well as checking out what the other big names are saying (including the likes of Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein).

There are still plenty of Man Utd transfer news despite the window being closed, and the Old Trafford rumour mill continues to be in full swing.

Three suitors for Hojlund

Rasmus Hojlund could be set to leave Man Utd this summer after a disastrous period at Old Trafford.

The Dane has failed to live up to his £70 million price tag since his move from Atalanta in 2023, but could return to Serie A.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Juventus, Inter and Napoli are all offering him a Man Utd escape route.

BATTLE for Osimhen

Amorim offers to LEAVE Man Utd

Ruben Amorim has offered to leave United without compensation following the Europa League loss against Tottenham.

“I have nothing to show to the fans, so in this moment it is a little bit of faith. Let’s see,” he told reporters in Bilbao.

“I am always open, if the board and fans feel I am not the right guy, I will go in the next day without any conversation about compensation, but I will not quit. I am really confident on my job. And as you see I will not change nothing in the way I do things.”

Gyokeres could ignore Premier League suitors...

Viktor Gyokeres' uncle has suggested the player could spend another year at Sporting CP.

The Swede's incredible goalscoring record and attainable €70 million asking price has seen him linked with a number of clubs this summer including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.

But, could he ignore the suitors and stay in Portugal?

His uncle told A Bola: “Do I like Sporting ? Yes, very much... yesterday at dinner we decided that he has to stay! Will he stay at Sporting ? Yes, we think so. We hope so, because, look, we love it, it's incredible, the country, the people and Sporting. We love it!”

Amorim's future

Gyokeres felt INVINCIBLE under Amorim

Ruben Amorim is under huge pressure at Man Utd following the Europa League final loss to Tottenham, but one man who is full of praise for the Portuguese coach is Sporting hitman Viktor Gyokeres, who has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League this summer.

“Did we feel invincible under Amorim? Yes,” he told SIC (via A Bola).

Speaking of Amorim’s exit, he revealed: “It was something that we, as a group of players, didn’t want. We were flying and winning all the league games and doing well in the Champions League too.

“It was a sad moment, but we completely understood his decision and there were no hard feelings. We spoke to him and to all the players. Everything was very clear and there were no hard feelings.”

Rashford second choice for Barca

Barcelona believe they are too reliant on Lamine Yamal and Raphinha in their wide forward roles so will be looking to strengthen that section of the squad this summer.

They are still interested in signing Marcus Rashford from Man Utd as cover for that pair, but their number one target is allegedly Liverpool's Luis Diaz, who could be allowed to leave Anfield if a fee of €70 million or more arrives (Mundo Deportivo).

Amorim has the backing of the club

Ruben Amorim is being trusted to rebuild the Man Utd squad to a competitive level.

United have had a dismal campaign and could finish as low as 17th in the Premier League after the final game of the season this weekend, though a lot of the damage has been attributed to Erik ten Hag who was in charge for the first portion of the campaign.

The Times reports that Amorim will be given £100 million to spend this summer and that the Portugese coach has a positive relationship with Sir Jim Ratcliffe as the pair speak on the phone every week and exchange WhatsApp messages.

Why United shouldn't sign Martinez

No Europa League, no Delap

Man Utd are unlikely to sign Liam Delap if they don't qualify for the Champions League.

The Red Devils will qualify for the tournament if they win the Europa League on Wednesday and with that glory will come a major financial boost. With a deal already likely for Matheus Cunha of Wolves, United won't be able to spend big on other stars if they don't qualify.

Delap has a release clause of €35 million following Ipswich's relegation. (ESPN)

Man Utd look to HIJACK Gyokeres deal

Man Utd haven't gave up their pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres - Arsenal's number one transfer target.

The prolific Swede will leave Sporting CP this summer after a magnificent period in Portugal that has saw him score a remarkable 96 goals in 101 games.

He has a release clause worth €100 million, but Sporting will allow him to leave for around €70m. It was believed that Arsenal lead the race for his signature, but should Man Utd qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League, they will become an attractive proposition in their own right. BIG competition for Martinez

United close to signing Ederson

United look to be in pole position to sign Ederson from Atalanta, according to journalist Alfredo Pedulla.

The Brazilian midfielder is a wanted man, with both Juventus and Man City allegedly keen on a deal as well as the Red Devils.

However, United have acted the quickest and could to sign him for around €60 million.
