Celtic signing frenzy: Eight deals on the cards as Martin O'Neill wish granted

Celtic are set for a late flurry to the 2026 summer transfer window, with as many as eight new players potentially set to arrive at the club before the end of Deadline Day.

The Hoops have already bolstered Martin O’Neill’s first-team squad with the signings of Kasper Hogh, Haissem Hassan, Mika Baur and Camilo Duran so far this summer, but they aren’t done in the market just yet.

In fact, they have been tipped to complete a number of last-minute deals as O’Neill looks to secure back-to-back league titles following his appointment on a permanent basis.

It’s understood that Celtic have reached a full agreement to sign PSV Eindhoven midfielder Joel van den Berg and he has travelled to Glasgow to undergo his medical.

Furthermore, Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph has confirmed that Celtic have agreed a loan deal for Oliver Sorensen (Parma), that talks are underway to sign Gvidas Gineitis (Torino) and Sam Johnstone (Wolves), and that the club are interested in Yukinari Sugawara (Southampton).

Meanwhile, they have been linked with a surprise move for Crystal Palace midfielder Justin Devenny, who is available to buy for around €7m before the window closes, and they have already agreed a loan deal for Chelsea left-back Landon Emenalo amid their pursuit of suitable cover for Kieran Tierney. However, that transfer remains in the balance due to an injury he picked up earlier this month.

In addition, Celtic have also been made aware of the availability of fellow Chelsea star Kendry Paez, who has returned to the west London giants after his loan spell at River Plate was terminated last week.

Martin O’Neill admits transfer wish

When asked if his side’s defeat to LASK in the Champions League play-offs could prevent them from signing their top targets before the window closes, O’Neill said: “I'm hoping that's not the case.

“We're still trying to get some players in, we would need a few in obviously to supplement the squad. I'm hoping that we can get some people in before the transfer deadline.”

In response, the Celtic hierarchy have dipped back into the market and they are set to officially announce a host of signings shortly.

However, contrary to Europe’s top five leagues, the Scottish transfer window doesn’t shut until 17:00 BST on Thursday 3 September, meaning Celtic have slightly longer to finalise their business.
