Celtic have strengthened Martin O’Neill’s side with the signings of Kasper Hogh, Haissem Hassan, Mika Baur and Camilo Duran so far this summer, and they have now agreed a deal to bring Van den Berg to Glasgow as a replacement for Arne Engels, who has joined West Ham United for a Championship record fee.

Van den Berg is due to undergo his medical with Celtic on Monday before officially joining the club on a reported four-year contract.

Sky Sports report that a fee worth €4m (£3.4m) has been agreed with PSV for the 19-year-old midfielder, who will soon formalise paperwork and sign his contract at Celtic Park before being unveiled as their latest summer addition.

Van den Berg, a Netherlands U19 international, has made six first-team appearances for PSV and he was a regular for the club's reserve side in the second tier of Dutch football last season.

It’s reported that he is seen as a capable replacement for the aforementioned Engels, with Celtic opting to finalise a deal after club officials travelled to Eindhoven on Friday to discuss a possible transfer.

Van den Berg was subsequently omitted from Jong PSV’s squad to face RKC Waalwijk on Friday evening, and it’s believed that he will officially be announced as a Celtic player shortly.

In addition to Van den Berg, Celtic are also interested in signing Crystal Palace star Justin Devenny, as per a report from The Herald.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who is available for roughly €7m, wasn’t included in Pierre Sage’s first two matchday squads of the new Premier League season and it’s understood that he could leave Selhurst Park before the summer window closes.

Devenny has just one year remaining on his current Crystal Palace contract and Celtic are set to face competition from Cagliari, Leicester City, Middlesbrough, Preston North End and Southampton for his signature.

Meanwhile, the Hoops could still sign Landon Emenalo on loan from Chelsea despite a recent injury knock.
