Rangers are “close” to announcing their next summer signing, according to new manager Derek McInnes.

The Glasgow giants have already finalised the arrivals of Ivor Pandur, Vanja Dragojevic, Ross McCrorie, Dan Neil, Lawrence Shankland, Cammy Devlin and Ben Godfrey (loan) so far this summer, but they remain in talks over further deals as they look to win the Scottish Premiership title for the first time since 2021.

Rangers are understood to be in advanced talks over a deal for Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl, amid significant competition from Cardiff City, Feyenoord and RB Salzburg, and they are also interested in signing Blackburn Rovers right-back Ryan Alebiosu.

Meanwhile, the club have been tipped to sell Nicolas Raskin in order to raise funds before the end of the summer window. The Belgium international has attracted substantial transfer interest following his performances at the World Cup and it’s expected that he will be sold on a permanent deal if Rangers’ asking price of over €20m is met.

Speaking after Rangers’ 0-0 draw with West Ham United in their final pre-season friendly on Sunday, McInnes confirmed that two deals are currently being worked on by the recruitment team, with one player close to officially completing a move to Ibrox.

“Physically, we are ready. Every game has been a bit more challenging. Obviously, we're still like every team and manager; we are still looking for some key additions,” McInnes told reporters ahead of his side’s first league fixture of the new season versus Dundee United on 31 July.

“I think we have good options in certain areas of the pitch. We are a wee bit light defensively; we have got good numbers centrally, we have good options at centre forward.

“But I think in those creative moments, the ability to penetrate more, create a bit more and people who can isolate a bit more, I think that is an area we can improve on, and hopefully we can get that done.”

McInnes added: “I'll speak with the recruitment team after training. These conversations have been ongoing.

“I think we are close to getting one done, and we are actively trying to get one more done before the weekend, all being well.”
