Transfer Rumours: Liverpool face Barcola twist after Arsenal receive ultimatum
FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 27 July, including the latest updates on Julian Alvarez, Vinicius Junior and Bradley Barcola.
Liverpool face Barcola complication
Liverpool have made Bradley Barcola their top target but their pursuit of the Frenchman could be complicated by Paris Saint-Germain’s failure to sign Yan Diomande.
PSG felt they would sign Diomande in a move that would pave way for Barcola’s sale but Real Madrid are now set to win the race for the RB Leipzig star after reaching a verbal agreement for his signing.
The situation has left PSG furious and prompted a report from TEAMtalk that they are now unlikely to consider Barcola’s sale despite the 23-year-old being unwilling to extend his contract with the club.
However, with PSG placing a reported price tag of €170m on Barcola, Liverpool could test the French side’s resolve by making a significant offer for a player they are believed to be going all out to sign.
Real Madrid place €160m price tag on Vini Jr
Real Madrid will not let Vinicius Junior leave the club for less than €160 million after reports that Arsenal are willing to make him their highest-ever earner.
Vini Jr has failed to agree terms on a new contract with Madrid and, with his deal entering its final 12 months, the La Liga side have been forced to consider his sale in order to avoid him leaving for free next summer.
The Brazilian currently believed to be on more than €500,000-per-week but Telegraph Sport report that Arsenal would look to improve those terms to maximise their chances of signing him, with finances not believed to be a barrier to their goal.
SPORT have also revealed that Los Blancos ‘will not even sit down to negotiate’ for anything under €160m including add-ons
Alvarez planning another public plea to join Barcelona
Julian Alvarez is set to make another public declaration to leave Atletico Madrid and force a move to Barcelona after feeling ‘betrayed’ by the La Liga giants.
Alvarez gave an interview during the World Cup where he revealed he had told Atletico that he wished to join Barcelona but his club have insisted they will not negotiate with their rivals.
The situation has become more tense in recent weeks and SPORT report that Alvarez is now planning to pressure Atletico to negotiate for his exit with another public statement in the coming days.
Alvarez is said to believe that Atletico gave their word that they would negotiate in good faith if a sizeable offer came in for him, however Barcelona have been told they will not be able to sign the Argentine for anything less than his €500 million release clause.
Guimaraes issues ultimatum over Arsenal move
Bruno Guimaraes has reportedly given an ultimatum to both Arsenal and Newcastle to ensure his future is resolved by the time he is due to return to pre-season training next week.
Guimaraes is keen to join Arsenal but the Gunners have so far not made a serious approach to Newcastle, who are unwilling to sell their captain for reported €80 million fee being proposed by the Gunners.
Newcastle expect Guimaraes to report for pre-season training on 31 July and TEAMtalk report that the 28-year-old is keen to ensure he does not face daily questions over his future upon his return.
Personal terms are in place with Arsenal but Guimaraes is not believed to be threatening to go on strike like Alexander Isak last summer and instead has told the Gunners to accelerate talks and get closer to Newcastle’s valuation, believed to be in excess of €100m.
