Official: Celtic announce €5m striker as first summer signing
Celtic have officially confirmed the signing of Qarabag forward Camilo Duran on a five-year contract.
The 24-year-old scored 15 goals in 48 games for Qarabag last season, including five in 10 Champions League appearances, and he has become Celtic’s first signing of the summer as they look to bolster the squad at Martin O’Neill’s disposal.
Reports have suggested that a fee of over €5 million, including add-ons, was agreed between Celtic and Qarabag, although the reigning Scottish Premiership champions haven’t confirmed their outlay on the forward.
Duran has travelled to Portugal to meet up with his new team-mates for a pre-season training camp and his competitive debut could come against Dundee in Celtic’s first league match of the new campaign on 3 August.
The Colombian was mostly deployed as a centre forward for Qarabag last season, although he is also capable of playing as a winger and it has been reported that he could be seen as a possible replacement for Daizen Maeda, who has once again been heavily linked with a Celtic Park exit before the end of the summer window.

Camilo Duran joins Celtic
Speaking to the Celtic website upon confirmation of his move to the Scottish giants, Duran said: “I'm very happy, it's a dream come true to sign for a big club like Celtic, the biggest in Scotland, and I'm just excited to get going and score lots of goals.
“When I first heard of the interest there was absolutely no doubt in my mind and I'm just excited to get playing with the boys.
“It was a dream come true playing in the Champions League. That's what you dream of as a kid, so to score goals was amazing and that's what I want to continue doing here, scoring goals in the Champions League.
“I give it my all in every game, with a lot of effort and dedication, and hopefully the goals will come.
“It's an honour to be the first Colombian to play for Celtic. It's been a dream of mine since I was a kid (to play for my country) and I hope that being here at Celtic and working well, then one day that will become true.
“I’ve told the manager how happy I am to be here and that I will hopefully repay him with my performances. It's a real honour to wear this jersey and I hope that this year we'll be champions.”
