Rangers star in talks to terminate contract early
Rangers outcast Rabbi Matondo is reportedly in talks to terminate his contract immediately before it expires at the end of June.
The 25-year-old has only made three appearances across all competitions so far this season and he has been excluded from Rangers’ matchday squad on 46 occasions since the beginning of 2025-26.
The former Manchester City academy starlet will not sign a new deal at Ibrox and he is currently scheduled to depart the club in July following a fairly underwhelming four-year stint in Glasgow.
However, The Herald report that Matondo’s representatives are now in discussions with the Rangers hierarchy over cancelling his contract early. It’s understood that negotiations have been ongoing in the background for a while, but they have ramped up in recent days as Matondo has an opportunity to complete a move to Norwegian side SK Brann as a free agent.
It’s reported that an agreement is close to being finalised between all parties, with Matondo set to leave Rangers having scored eight goals in 70 appearances for the club following his arrival from Schalke for €3 million in July 2022.
Brann are currently 14th in the Eliteserien, after losing their opening two fixtures of the new season, and they are keen to bring Matondo to the club as soon as possible, rather than waiting until his Rangers contract ends in July.

In addition, Nicolas Raskin is expected to be the subject of several transfer approaches, while loanees Nasser, Djiga, Derek Cornelius, Jayden Meghoma, Max Aarons, Mikey Moore and Andreas Skov Olsen will return to their parent clubs .
However, Rangers are understood to be keen to finalise a deal to bring Moore back to the club this summer.
