Celtic interim manager Martin O’Neill is reportedly “raging” with the club’s transfer decisions during the recent winter window.

The Hoops are currently six points behind league leaders Hearts, with a game in hand, and they sanctioned the arrivals of six new players in January in a bid to win a fifth consecutive Scottish Premiership title.

Junior Adamu, Julian Araujo, Tomas Cvancara, Joel Mvuka, Benjamin Arthur and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all moved to Celtic Park in a busy month of transfer activity, however O’Neill is now at odds with the club’s hierarchy, according to talkSPORT host Alan Brazil.

Araujo, Cvancara and Oxlade-Chamberlain have all played substantial roles over the past month, but O’Neill has reportedly been left frustrated by the Deadline Day arrivals of Adamu, Mvuka and Arthur on loan.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Celtic fan Brazil admitted (via The Daily Record): “There is a big row at Celtic going on at the minute, we are not spending crazy money.

“Celtic have a habit of doing that, [saying] 'we have got enough just to get by to win trophies'. But, the fans want more.

“I'm told Martin is raging with the transfers. They got three on loan, he didn't want that, I believe. He wanted to buy some players, and it's going to cost them probably.”

Celtic’s summer plans.

Celtic were linked with the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Bobby Clark and David Datro Fofana during the January window, but Oxlade-Chamberlain’s arrival on Bosman deal was the only permanent signing the club were unable to finalise.

They have been tipped to pursue a move for Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson this summer, while Plymouth Argyle striker Lorent Tolaj is also understood to be on Celtic’s radar.

However, O’Neill has already confirmed that he will not be in charge next season, with Roberto Martinez, Robbie Keane and Jens Berthel Askou among the favourites for the job.

Ange Postecoglou has been linked with a return to the club too, but he has officially ruled himself out of contention.
