Celtic receive huge update on DREAM Liverpool transfer
Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson has broken his silence amid rumours that he could join Celtic on a Bosman deal next summer.
The Scotland international is into the final year of his current contract at Anfield and reports suggest that he could be set to complete a high-profile move to Celtic Park when the 2026 summer transfer window opens.
Robertson is a boyhood Bhoys fan and the arrival of Milos Kerkez at Liverpool this summer has led to increased speculation over a possible departure.
The 31-year-old is yet to engage in contract extension talks with Arne Slot’s side, but he has insisted that he remains relaxed about his situation as 2026 approaches.
Robertson was usurped by Kerkez following the Hungary star’s arrival at Anfield in July, however he has now started five of the Reds’ last six matches across all competitions after working his way back into favour under Slot.
It’s understood the former Dundee defender would be keen to sign a new deal at Liverpool, although Celtic are eager to finalise an agreement to bring him north of the border.
Andy Robertson responds to Liverpool exit speculation
“I think last season everyone was bored of talking about the three lads [Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold], but for me the relationship between me and the club has been a wonderful one,” Robertson admitted to reporters when asked about his Liverpool future (via Liverpool Echo).
“They've done everything for me in terms of me and my family. I think I've not been too bad for them in terms of signing from Hull for £8million and what I've done.
“Whatever happens will happen behind closed doors and I'm relaxed about the whole situation. If it is my last year, then it's my last year. If it's not, then so be it.
“But I think obviously I had a bit of a stressful summer in terms of decisions and things like that. And I've said to myself to just try and enjoy the next few months and then obviously it will start probably taking over my life. I've got no doubt about that.”
“That's what happens when you go into your last six months. I'm just trying to focus on football now.”
Robertson continued: “I am delighted to be back on the pitch, delighted to be back playing the last few games.
“That's important and let's see what happens. But I'm relaxed about the whole thing and the club has been amazing for me.”
