Rangers summer signing could LEAVE in January after Gerrard appointment
Tottenham Hotspur could reportedly decide to recall Mikey Moore from his loan spell at Rangers during the January transfer window.
The 18-year-old, who made 19 first-team appearances for Spurs last season, moved to Ibrox on a one-year loan deal in August, however he has struggled in Scotland and Rangers fans have been extremely critical of his performances since his arrival.
The England U19 international has played 10 matches across all competitions for the Gers so far this season, but he is yet to score his first goal for the club, while he has only registered one assist - which came against Alloa Athletic in the Scottish League Cup.
It’s believed that Russell Martin played a key role in Moore’s move to Ibrox over the summer and Rangers’ decision to sack the 39-year-old could have a major impact on the Tottenham loanee’s future at the club.
Steven Gerrard is expected to return to Ibrox as their new manager and Football.London’s Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold has revealed that Moore could potentially return to his parent club in January if his game time suffers following the sacking of Martin.
He told his YouTube channel: “I’m sure there’ll be an option to bring him [Moore] back in January if it continues this way.
“Because if the new manager, I mean, there’s been talk of Steven Gerrard, whoever it may be, if they don’t play him, you’ve got to get him back straight away. There are a few Championship clubs, I think, sniffing around him.”
Mikey Moore to leave Rangers in January?
Moore was one of 14 players to arrive at Rangers over the summer, but a major squad upheaval failed to help new boss Martin, who was sacked on Sunday following a dismal start to his reign at Ibrox.
The ex-Southampton boss won just five of his 17 matches in charge of the Gers and he was fired following mass fan protests after a 1-1 draw against Falkirk.
Gerrard is reportedly close to being appointed as Martin’s replacement, with Rangers turning to the former manager instead of Sean Dyche, who was also linked to the job.
