Hamza Igamane Rangers’ exit CONFIRMED as Glasgow giants land staggering profit
Hamza Igamane’s Rangers career will come to an end this week following a public dispute with manager Russell Martin.
Morocco international attacker Igamane is set to move to Ligue 1 side Lille, where he will hook up with World Cup winner Olivier Giroud at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
The 22-year-old is set to leave Ibrox officially on Thursday, but he will do so under a cloud.
Igamane was involved in a controversial incident during Sunday’s Premiership draw with St Mirren that Martin decided to bring into the public sphere.
"I turned around to him at 60 minutes and Hamza told me he's injured," Martin told Sky Sports. "I have to trust him, but we'll see."
He added: "We had a bid this week for Hamza that we rejected.
"There are too many people uncertain, and we have to make sure we have people that want to be here. I'm calm about it."
Martin revealed on Tuesday in his press conference prior to the Champions League playoff showdown with Club Brugge that Igamane had a scan and he expected it to be clear.
Rangers hit transfer jackpot with Igamane
The Rangers manager’s comments split opinion as there were fears that they could further disrupt a struggling side prior to their critical Champions League fixture, but also due to fears that they could drive Igamane’s transfer fee down.
According to French outlet RMC, Lille will pay around €12 million to sign Igamane, who will sign a three-year deal in the north of France.
Although Rangers had been hoping to secure around €20m for the attacker, the fee that they are set to receive remains a healthy one. Igamane has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €9.2m.
This represents a huge profit for the Glasgow giants, who signed the attacker from FAR Rabat a year ago for €2.4m. Rangers will comfortably quadruple their money on Igamane, which should act as some compensation for how his time at Ibrox has finished.
