Rangers agree transfer for prolific striker

Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers is on the verge of joining AEK Athens, according to a report.
The nine-time Nigeria international has divided opinion among the Rangers fanbase since joining the club in the summer of 2023, but there is no arguing with his numbers.
In the season just gone, Dessers notched an impressive 29 goals and added seven assists. All told, he has netted 51 goals and recorded 16 assists in 109 appearances for the Glasgow giants.
Despite his sometimes inconsistent finishing, Dessers will get you goals if provided the chances, and this hasn't gone unnoticed, as illustrated by the fact that the Belgium-born striker has been attracting attention in recent windows.
With Rangers set to undergo a significant transformation under new boss Russell Martin and ownership Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers, now seems to be the time for him to move on.
Rangers agree Dessers deal
According to the Daily Record, Dessers has given the green light to a potential transfer to Greek side AEK Athens, with the club's new owner Marios Iliopoulos said to be willing to 'push the boat out' for the 30-year-old.
Dessers has verbally agreed a £30,000-a-week contract with last season's Greek Super League runners-up after being made their top target for this summer. The striker is said to be keen on the move.

It is now up to Rangers and AEK to settle on a transfer fee, with the Scottish side reportedly trying to play hardball. After spending a sizeable €5m on Dessers in 2023, the Gers want to make a profit on him.
A fee in excess of €5m would put Dessers among the Greek club's most expensive arrivals ever, with their current record signing Orbelin Pineda having cost €6.5m in 2023. Dessers previously played in Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium.
