The transfer fee is set to remain undisclosed, but Rangers are now set to land their top January transfer target barring a U-turn from the player himself.

Premier League 2022/23 January transfers: All the Done Deals

Cantwell has been seen as the "perfect Beale signing" and Rangers have moved fast to try and convince him to wear the royal blue.

The 24-year-old has plenty of offers at his table, but it's understood he has favoured the move to Glasgow from the beginning.

We understand PSV are still keen on him also and there is an opportunity for clubs to offer him a Bosman deal as his contract expires in June.

Norwich have now left it up to Cantwell to decide where he wants to play come February - and the midfielder and his agent are looking over the options.

Beale an admirer of Cantwell

Beale has long admired Cantwell, and sources say he was a target for QPR when the English manager was in the hot-seat there.

The coach is looking to add three or four new players to his squad this month as they chase down champions Celtic.

The club is also keen on Swansea winger Morgan Whittaker, and talks are ongoing with the Welsh club. Rangers have had an early bid rejected by the Swans.

It's also understood that they are seeking to add a further striking option to the side.

Indeed, the only thing standing in the way of the move is if there is an offer on the table that turns Cantwell's head away from Ibrox.

It is thought that Cantwell will be a Rangers player soon, bringing an end to his seven-year spell at Carrow Road.
