Julian Alvarez transfer race heats up as swap deal offer planned
Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly plotting an official offer for Julian Alvarez as they look to land the Atletico Madrid striker this summer.
Alvarez, 25, has emerged as a key transfer target for Luis Enrique’s side in recent months and they are expected to challenge for his signature later this year amid significant competition from a number of top European clubs.
Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea are also keeping close tabs on the Argentina international’s situation, with rumours speculating that he could be set to leave Atletico Madrid following the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign.
The former Manchester City star has bagged 11 goals and provided five assists in 29 matches across all competitions so far this season, and he is one of very few elite level strikers set to be on the market this summer.
As a result, the battle to sign him is expected to be fierce and PSG are ready to go “all-in” to finalise a deal for the 25-year-old, as per Spanish publication Fichajes.
It’s reported that PSG will offer Atletico Madrid a fixed transfer fee of €50 million for Alvarez, in addition to Goncalo Ramos and Kang-in Lee.
Diego Simeone’s side have been linked with both players in recent weeks and it’s claimed that PSG are willing to part ways with the duo if it helps them land Alvarez for a reduced figure.
Julian Alvarez transfer update
PSG are reportedly aiming to finalise a deal for Alvarez before their competition is able to respond with an offer of their own, although an agreement is unlikely to be reached before this summer.
As a result, Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea will have the chance to vie for Alvarez’s signature later this year.
Of those three clubs, Chelsea are currently the least likely to sign the Argentina international, with Liam Rosenior’s side having already agreed deals for striker duo Emmanuel Emegha and Dastan Satpaev.
Arsenal and Barcelona, however, have both earmarked Alvarez as their dream striker signing for 2026.
