Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman is mulling over three clubs ahead of yet another loan move away from Stamford Bridge.

The Ghana international arrived at Chelsea from FC Augsburg in 2015 for a reported fee of £14m upfront, rising to £22m with add-ons.

Having made 15 appearances for the Blues in his first campaign, Rahman was loaned to Schalke the following year after failing to impress new manager Antonio Conte in pre-season. The full-back then agreed to a further 18-month loan in Gelsenkirchen, ending in January 2019.

Upon return, Rahman was then sent to Reims in France for the remainder of the Ligue 1 season.

Now managed by Frank Lampard, Chelsea still couldn’t find a place for Rahman in the squad with Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso preferred in the left-back position.

The 27-year-old instead spent the 2019-20 season on loan at newly-promoted Mallorca where he, rather unsurprisingly, failed to make much of an impact once more.

Rahman did not begin the current campaign by heading out on loan again, but is now said to be close to joining one of three teams in January.

If, as might be expected, he has failed to trigger any of the add-ons agreed when he arrived from Augsburg over five years ago, Chelsea’s forgotten man has cost the club £10,316 per minute played so far.
