Real Madrid could make a world record approach for Michael Olise this summer, with Bayern Munich star being declared the club’s ‘top target’ to reclaim their status as the best team in La Liga.

Olise has proven to be a revelation for Bayern since joining the club from Crystal Palace in 2024 and the 24-year-old is currently starring alongside Kylian Mbappe for France at the 2026 World Cup.

Florentino Perez promised that Madrid would make a €150 million offer for a star player during his successful re-election campaign and, while the club saw a bid of that value rejected by Atletico Madrid for Julian Alvarez, the approach was seen as a ‘bluff’ rather than being a ‘genuine intention’.

That is according to MARCA, who claim that Olise is seen as the ‘ideal signing’ for Madrid due to his relationship with Mbappe as well as his strengthening the right-wing spot, which is currently deemed as a weakness.

However, crucially, Madrid believe Olise’s signing would combat the ‘Lamine effect’ that has seen Barcelona win back-to-back La Liga championships following the progression of Lamine Yamal, described as the Catalan’s ‘great trump card’ in the title race.

Madrid are said to be aware that a pursuit of Olise could cost substantially more than the €150m for Alvarez and Los Blancos are prepared to raise their bid to above €200m, with a limit of around €220m in the hopes of tempting Bayern into a sale.

Real Madrid hoping to sign Olise and Enzo Fernandez this summer

A €220m deal for Olise would be in line with the world record €222m fee paid by Paris Saint-Germain for Neymar in 2017 and Bayern would likely demand in excess of that to part ways with their talismanic forward.

Bayern have repeatedly insisted they will not consider offers for Olise, with club president Herbet Hainer speaking of Real Madrid’s interest, saying: “Michael Olise is a Bayern Munich player who still has a long-term contract - and we are not a club that sells players.

"If Florentino Pérez wants to send us an offer -- which hasn't happened yet -- he can save himself the trouble."

Real Madrid still want to add a midfielder to their ranks, with Enzo Fernandez the club’s top target even with Chelsea’s valuation believed to be more than €120m, suggesting that the feasibility of both him and Olise’s arrivals may prove too much financially.

However, the report from MARCA suggests that Mbappe’s encouragement could tempt Olise into pushing for a move to Madrid, while the likes of Aurelien Tchouameni or Federico Valverde could be cashed in on to fund the blockbuster deals.
