Rashford resolution a step closer as €11m transfer nears reality
Marcus Rashford’s move to Barcelona on a permanent basis from Manchester United looks increasingly likely, with an €11 million agreement set to be the catalyst that allows the deal to take place.
Rashford has already agreed personal terms with Barca, who have a purchase clause of €30 million in the loan agreement.
A stumbling block has arisen in terms of the Catalans’ finances, with the Blaugrana still hampered by Financial Fair Play (FFP) restrictions.
Man Utd are unwilling to renegotiate the terms of the deal, with Rashford’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently sitting at €38.5m, but the Camp Nou side are close to a significant injection of cash that will simultaneously fuel a deal for Rashford while also providing them with a stimulus to get the deal done.
This comes in the form of Ansu Fati, who could complete a permanent move to Monaco following a season on loan.
Monaco seek to sign Ansu Fati for €11m
Ansu’s impact in Ligue 1 has been comparatively disappointing, with the attacking midfielder playing only 793 minutes for Monaco. His output in this time, though, has been impressive, with the Spain international netting eight goals.
This has been enough to prompt Monaco to seek to take up the player’s €11m purchase option, AS reports.
But just as Barcelona are struggling to match Rashford’s Man Utd wages, Monaco are seeking to slash their wage bill and do not want to pay Ansu €250,000 per month.
They will now enter talks with the player over a deal that promises to have implications for the England international.
Ansu as a catalyst for Rashford
If Monaco are successful in agreeing terms with Ansu, this means that €11m will head to Barcelona that will help fund Rashford’s purchase.
It would also mean that a cheap and obvious option to replace the Englishman at Camp Nou would be off the table, increasing the chances of the 28-year-old remaining with the Spanish league leaders.
The very fact that Monaco are interested in signing Ansu should be taken as a positive sign by Rashford that a permanent deal can be found, although it’s clear there are still some hurdles to clear before his dream transfer is completed.
