Barcelona target BARGAIN transfer for in-form Haaland alternative
Barcelona could target a bargain alternative to Erling Haaland as they look towards long-term successors to Robert Lewandowski next summer.
Lewandowski is in the final year of his contract with the Catalans and there is an acceptance that Barca will need to replace the 37-year-old sooner rather than later despite his form.
Recent reports in the Spanish media have suggested that Barca will renew their long-standing interest in Haaland and will attempt to take advantage of any signs of disgruntlement at Manchester City.
However, Barca’s seemingly perpetual financial issues makes the signing of Haaland perhaps an unrealistic venture and Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport have suggested that the La Liga giants could turn to Dusan Vlahovic instead.
Vlahovic is set to leave Juventus on a free transfer next summer despite recapturing his best form under new manager Igor Tudor, having netted six goals in as many games for the Serie A side, stretching back to the summer’s Club World Cup.
Juve are still expecting to part ways with Vlahovic at the end of his contract due to his salary proving unaffordable and Barcelona have been mooted as one of the 25-year-old’s ideal destinations next year.
Vlahovic in control of future after electric start to new campaign
Barca have continued to struggle to meet La Liga’s stringent financial rulings, which saw Hansi Flick’s side make just three major signings in the summer in Joan Garcia, Roony Bardghji and the loan of Marcus Rashford.
It appears likely that Barca will be forced to shop in the bargain bucket once again next summer at a time when they will be looking to replace the prolific scoring of Lewandowski, who has already netted twice in his three appearances this season.
Juventus boss Tudor is said to see Vlahovic as the ideal forward for his team but the Serbian’s future is considered a club and financial decision, which could even see the striker sold in January for the right price.
Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and the Premier League are also said to be appealing destinations for Vlahovic, although Juve may consider a renewed effort to offer the player a new contract if his form continues, suggesting his future is in his own hands at this stage.
