Williams to reject summer transfer?
Williams is wanted by both Arsenal and Chelsea, but Athletic Club boss Ernesto Valverde has hinted that he could snub interest from England in order to extend his stay at San Mames.
Ahead of Athletic Club’s final La Liga match of the season against Barcelona on Sunday, Valverde told reporters: “We assume he'll be with us next year, and we want that to be the case. There are always rumours about players, and you know how it is.
“We're very happy with Nico, and Nico is very happy with us. We hope next year is a great year for Nico, and that he does it here.”
Arsenal target alternatives
With a move for Williams looking complicated, Arsenal have sounded out a number of alternative targets amid their pursuit of a new left winger.
Real Madrid superstar Rodrygo is on the Gunners’ radar, as per multiple reports, while the club are also chasing both Ademola Lookman (Atalanta) and Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton & Hove Albion), according to Sky Germany.
Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Jamie Gittens is still a target for Mikel Arteta’s side too, although it remains to be seen if Arsenal will match the Englishman’s asking price after his lack of action during the final few months of the Bundesliga season.
Real Madrid eye deal
Real Madrid are lining up a shock move for Nico Williams, according to Marca.
Although Los Blancos already have Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe as immense options on the left wing, Xabi Alonso’s side are now said to be considering the possibility of triggering the Athletic Club star’s €58 million release fee.
Marca state: “Real Madrid are impressed by Nico Williams’ profile. He's a young, explosive player with a great media impact and both sporting and commercial potential. His status as a Spanish international also adds value to a team looking to maintain a solid domestic base and market traction.”

Barcelona don’t want Williams
Despite significant interest in Williams over the past 12 months, Barcelona have officially withdrawn from contention to sign the Spain international.
That is according to Joan Laporta, the club’s president, who told TV3: “Nico Williams was one of the candidates last season, but we decided to sign Dani Olmo. Other options are currently being considered.”
A move to Camp Nou is therefore unlikely to take place, with the Blaugrana set to persist with a front three of Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha.
