Barcelona are looking to strengthen their team in the winter transfer window in a bid to maintain their lead at the top of La Liga and ensure they have a successful season.

The club are in a difficult spot due to their financial condition and their recent Champions League group stage exit hasn’t helped their case.

It’s still not clear whether they can sign new players in January due to La Liga’s Financial Fair Play rules but they are planning for it in case.

Now, it’s emerged that there are two priorities for them in the January window and they hope to get deals done for a duo of signings after the World Cup.

Barcelona eyeing two players

Barcelona are eyeing a midfielder and a right-back for the January transfer window and have a host of targets in mind for the transfer window.

They have struggled at right back for much of the campaign, using Hector Bellerin, Ronald Araujo, Sergi Roberto and Jules Kounde in that area over the course of the season.

They’ve targeted players like Cesar Azpilicueta and Thomas Meunier for the role and could make a move for either, and it wouldn’t cost them much either.

The other area Barcelona want to improve in is midfield and they’ve got some targets but this may be more costly than they’d like.

Bernardo Silva is their dream signing but that seems unlikely due to Manchester City’s high asking price, but there may be another Manchester City player in their sights.

Ilkay Gundogan is the player they want and they could land him on a free transfer as his contract is set to run out at the end of the season.

They want to add him in to provide more solidity and depth to their squad as Sergio Busquets is set to leave the club at the end of the season.
