Messi will become the highest-paid player in Major League Soccer history, ahead of the likes of Beckham, Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

And the Argentina international already house a house in Miami, where he likes to go on vacation, which makes it an obvious move.

Another factor is Beckham's own relationship with Messi, through Adidas, which has helped in convincing the ex-Barca man to join his project.

The MLS are also keen to see the deal go through, with the United States hosting the World Cup in 2026.

Inter Miami's Barcelona Dream Team

Inter Miami have plans to form an ex-Barcelona Dream Team next season, catalyzed by the signing of Lionel Messi.

While the greatest football of all time will always be the centre of attention, it seems the Herons want to make sure he isn't the only source of entertainment.

The Times reports that Cesc Fabregas and Luis Suarez are also on the club's shortlist.

While El Partidazo de COPE reports that 34-year-old Sergio Busquets is a transfer target.

It is unlikely that Miami could line up with all four of the former Barcelona stars, given the MLS' designated player ruling.

But the signs are that David Beckham plans to bring first class entertainment to the 18,000 capacity DRV PNK Stadium.
