Barcelona and Real Madrid have maintained a strong interest in Brazilian prodigy Endrick but may face strong competition for the teenager.

The two Spanish clubs along with Paris Saint-Germain have been keeping eye on the 16-year-old with a view to a further transfer, but that race to sign him may have got even more congested.

It’s not a surprise given Endrick has been shining at youth level and recently made a big impact at senior level – his stock is growing quickly.

Now, English champions Manchester City are set to join the race for him, complicating the other sides’ bid to sign the talent from Palmeiras.

Competition for Endrick increases

According to ESPN Brazil, Manchester City have entered the race and are set to send scouts to watch him play, starting with tonight’s match against Fortaleza.

Endrick has started to garner attention from Europe’s top sides following his performances in the Copinha tournament – a competition for youngsters.

He has since made appearances for the senior team having signed his first professional contract this past July, with his deal running until 2025, and a €60 million release clause attached to him.

Barcelona invited Endrick to have a look around the club’s facilities earlier this year, but the club may not be able to get him that easily due to their financial woes.

Real Madrid and PSG are the frontrunners as a result, and Palmeiras could be tempted to sell for a fee of around €35-40 million.

Endrick will only be able to leave Brazil once he turns 18, as rules state he can’t leave Brazil before that age, giving interested clubs some time to ponder a bid or make a long-term agreement.

Given Barcelona have a need to strengthen other positions and sign readymade talents, others, including Manchester City, will feel they have a strong chance of landing the talented teenager.
