He ended up joining the Blaugrana after weeks of negotiation, and Bayern Munich got a big fee for him despite the Polish forward having just one year left on his contract at the Allianz Arena.

The departure was quite sour, as there was a public spat between the club and player, which has led to Haaland commenting on the situation in a documentary.

New documentary follows Haaland's decision

The documentary, “Haaland: The Election” follows the Norwegian in his journey before deciding to pick Manchester City as his next club, as he was getting ready to leave Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern Munich were one of the clubs interested in Haaland, and that’s when the Norwegian pointed out that the German side’s interest in him was disrespectful to Lewandowski.

“I don't know how many goals and titles he has achieved for the club. I really felt a little sorry for him. It feels disrespectful, but at the same time it is an opportunity for him to look for another challenge,” Haaland said.

Lewandowski ended up getting his new challenge at Barcelona, and Haaland chose Manchester City as his destination, and is enjoying a flying start to life in England.

Bayern Munich themselves spoke on the speculation surrounding the club and Haaland, as Hasan Salihamidzic believed things wouldn’t work out.

"We were in talks, but it became clear that things might not work out between the two parties. That's why he is now at Manchester City and we have other players," Salihamidzic said.

Haaland has scored 10 goals in his opening six Premier League games – a joint record – while Lewandowski has scored five goals in La Liga in the first four matches.
