Ronaldo not pushing Cristiano Jr to follow in his footsteps despite potential
The eldest son of the Portuguese legend, Cristiano Junior has been described as ‘radically different’ to his father by displaying the characteristics of ‘a cold and apathetic player’ according to Marca.
He is seen as a more natural number nine than his father and received praised for his tactical awareness around the box but the Spanish outlet also suggested that his focus on positioning was proving ‘detrimental’ to his game at a young level.
Ronaldo spoke about his son’s future in football during a 2024 and insisted that, while he would like Junior to become a professional player, he didn’t want to force the youngster into any one direction.
“He already has the pressure of being my son,” Ronaldo said. “Let him make his own mistakes.
“I hope that in the future, he can become a professional player. If he doesn't become a player, perhaps he can pursue another career, but I will always support him. We can't put pressure on our sons just because we are famous.”
