Barcelona agree €20m Rashford discount with Man Utd
Barcelona are well-placed to sign Marcus Rashford on a permanent basis from Manchester United, with the Camp Nou side reportedly set to get a cut-price deal for the England star.
Rashford was pushed out of the Old Trafford exit during the summer after falling out with manager Ruben Amorim in December 2024.
He has enjoyed a resurgence of form while on loan at Barcelona, to such an extent that the Catalan club are already exploring the possibility of signing him on a permanent basis.
While there are financial obstacles that could potentially block the transfer, Man Utd have done everything in their power to open the door for Rashford to move to Barcelona on a permanent basis.
The Blaugrana have the option to buy the 28-year-old for just €32 million, according to the Daily Mirror.
United, meanwhile, are said to be asking other clubs for €45m for the player.
While either price would represent excellent business for a player who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €52.2m.
Snapping him up for €20m under his valuation would particularly good news for Barcelona, who have seen Rashford score six and set up that same number since arriving in the summer.
Rashford to take another pay cut?
European football expert Andy Brassell pointed out that Rashford’s wages could still be a significant sticking point.
The forward already took a pay cut to join Barca, but if the deal if to be made permanent, he will likely have to do so again.
“Barcelona don't have tons of money, but I think when you bear in mind that they could amortise that over the length of a contract, that they are planning to give Rashford another pay cut, if he will accept it,” he told the Trans Euro Express podcast.
“He's already taken a pay cut to go there, but he is speaking their language, and I don't mean Catalan. And I think the plan is that they will give him a longer contract with the same sort of money that he's getting at the moment.
"So, it works out to be spread over a longer period of time, which is how they will make it work financially. “
