Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes has indicated that he would one day love to sign for Real Madrid.

Paredes has played for the Ligue 1 champions since January 2019, when he made a €47 million move from Zenit St Petersburg.

An Argentina international, he has shown flashes of excellence at Parc des Princes, where he has played on 113 occasions for the Parisian side.

However, with PSG set for a summer clearout, Paredes admits that there is one club more than any other: the Champions League finalists.

Speaking to TyCSports, he said: “A team in which I’d like to play? I would like to play for Real Madrid. Every player dreams of wearing that shirt but I’ve a lot of respect for PSG and I’m happy here.”

What are the chances of Paredes dream coming true?

On the upside for Paredes, he is one of a number of midfielders who will be made available for transfer this summer by PSG, who simply have too many players in that area of the field.

That Paredes, who has managed only 15 Ligue 1 appearances this season, is someone that they feel is expendable, however, hints at deficiencies in his game that mean he is not of the quality to play for Real Madrid.

While he has something of a following due to his technical ease, the truth is that he shows his best left much too infrequently and fails to impose himself on matches. On the big stage, especially, he can be too sloppy in possession for a high-level team and there can be little doubt that PSG must regret paying such a sum of money for him.

Instead, it is likelier that he moves to Serie A, where there was competition for his signature when he moved to PSG. Either way, the French club can expect to make a sizeable loss on Paredes, who has been another example of their haphazard transfer policy.
