How good is Soule?

At the time of writing on October 29, Soule has been one of the best players in all of Serie A in 2023-24.

Playing on the right wing for Frosinone manager Eusebio Di Francesco, Soule has been devastating for the newly-promoted team.

He has scored five goals already in the opening 10 matches for a team that were favourites to finish bottom of the league. Instead, Frosinone are flying high in the top half, just a few points off the European places. This makes Soule the third top-scorer in Serie A.

He has statistically been the best dribbler in the league, and by quite some distance. The Argentine is averaging 3.7 dribbles per match, the next best being Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson with 2.2 a game.

Soule is second in Serie A for key passes per game, with only Napoli’s Piotr Zielinski creating more.

Perhaps only Lautaro Martinez of Inter can claim to have had a more influential season so far for his club than Soule.

For those who watched Soule at Juventus, his breakthrough at Frosinone may come as something of a surprise. There was no doubt that he was technically gifted and boasted a beautiful left foot, and great first touch.

But there were doubts whether Soule had it in him to be decisive and to really hurt opponents.

He has proved beyond doubt in 2023-24 that he absolutely can. While he was put on a leash by Juventus coach Max Allegri, he has been unleashed by Di Francesco - someone who has a good record developing youngsters.

A return to Juventus in order to be a first-team player now looks on the cards, despite the fact Juve tried to sell him this past summer.

Argentine by birth, he is uncapped by his nation and Italy coach Luciano Spalletti has expressed interest in naturalising him.

Soule has been compared to Argentina legend and former Juventus teammate Angel Di Maria for his style of play.

He joined Juventus as a 16-year-old from Velez Sarsfield in 2020, initially starring for the Juventus Next Gen team before progressing to the seniors.

He made 19 appearances for Juventus in 2022-23, scoring one goal. But only five of these games were from the start and nearly of them in a formation (such as 3-5-2) that was unsuitable to Soule’s skillset.

At Frosinone, Soule has been utilised in a way by DI Francesco to help him demonstrate his qualities and he has not looked back.

What clubs are interested in Soule?

Juventus were open to selling Soule in the summer of 2022. Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach both were in discussions for the Argentine but a transfer fee could not be agreed.

A number of Italian clubs made loan proposals but in the end Soule agreed to join Frosinone.

His transfer value has now increased massively and a future at Juventus next season is very much possible.

How old is Soule?

Soule is 20 years old. He was born on 15 April 2003.
