Cristiano Ronaldo says he can’t wait to return to play at Old Trafford and has been overwhelmed by the messages of support since his transfer to Manchester United.

Ronaldo has completed a €15 million move from Juventus, with a potential €8m in add-ons.

The Portuguese superstar has signed a two-year deal, with the option of a third.

The transfer was officially confirmed by both Man Utd and Juventus on Tuesday.

Ronaldo returns to Man United after 12 years away, having enjoyed a brilliant six years at the club between 2003 and 2009 before moving to Real Madrid.

What did Ronaldo say about Man Utd return?

“Manchester United is a club that has always had a special place in my heart, and I have been overwhelmed by all the messages I have received since the announcement on Friday,” Ronaldo said on Tuesday.

“I cannot wait to play at Old Trafford in front of a full stadium and see all the fans again. I'm looking forward to joining up with the team after the international games, and I hope we have a very successful season ahead.”

What did Solskjaer say about Ronaldo return?

Man Utd manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is equally excited about the prospect of Ronaldo lining up at the club again.

“You run out of words to describe Cristiano. He is not only a marvellous player, but also a great human being,” Solskjaer added.

“To have the desire and the ability to play at the top level for such a long period requires a very special person. I have no doubt that he will continue to impress us all and his experience will be so vital for the younger players in the squad.

“Ronaldo’s return demonstrates the unique appeal of this club and I am absolutely delighted he is coming home to where it all started.”

Ronaldo is expected to make his Man Utd debut on September 11 when Newcastle United travel to Old Trafford.
