Pedri was willing to sign for Real Madrid before Barcelona

Pedri has been a star for Barcelona since signing for the Catalan club and has become one of the world’s best young players over the last few years.
The Spaniard signed from Las Palmas back in 2020 and despite the troubles for the club, he’s been a shining light for them in recent times.
Despite his young age, Barcelona have used him frequently and he is an essential part of the first-team set-up, and the same has been replicated for Spain.

Now, Pedri has revealed that things could’ve been very different for him as there was interest from other clubs, namely Barcelona’s biggest rivals, Real Madrid.

Pedri has been on trial at Real Madrid in the past but they didn’t offer him a full-time contract, and he has now said that he would’ve taken it on if given the chance.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, he said: "I think so. My ambition was to make my way as a professional footballer and it would have been very difficult to reject an offer from one of the great clubs in the history of this sport.

"That train passed and two years later I ended up signing for the team of my dreams. That of my family and that of my first football idol, Andres Iniesta. I've always said it, I've been a Barca player since I was a child," he added.
Pedri has made 61 appearances for Barcelona since signing for them, becoming a core player in all their competitions.

He has won one trophy in his time, the Copa del Rey in 2021, and that was the last title Barcelona have won, with the club having the ambition to get back to the top.
They are embroiled by financial issues and having young stars like Pedri certainly boosts their profile – his Kopa Trophy and Golden Boy win in 2021 was widely celebrated.
