Club forced to apologise after 'Wet and Wild' clubhouse strip show gets out of control
A lower-league football club has apologised after a male strip show held at their clubhouse got out of hand.
Banbury United are a club based in Banbury, Oxfordshire. They were founded in 1931 and are nicknamed 'The Puritans'.
They play in the Southern League Premier Division Central, which is the seventh tier of English football, in the 2026/27 season.
On 17 October, Banbury's Spencer Clubhouse held UK Pleasure Boys' "Wet & Wild" event - described as the "ultimate girls' night out" and a "Western Style Strip Show".
Videos circulating on social media show the male dancers stripping onstage before entering the audience. Thereafter, they performed inappropriate acts as the audience was left stunned.
"We are aware of video clips circulating online from the UK Pleasure Boys' 'Wet & Wild' show held at The Spencer Clubhouse on Saturday 17th October," the club said in a statement.
"This was a ticketed, 18+ event.
"The images suggest that part of the performance towards the end went beyond what we find acceptable at our venue. We apologise to anyone in attendance who was offended.
"We are reviewing what happened and will revise our hire and conduct terms for performance events as a result."
The venue was booked by an external promoter and the club had nothing to do with it, as the UK Pleasure Boys embarked on a tour around the country.
The manager of Adrenalin Promotions, John Woodward, said the company was investigation the incident.
"At the moment, we're still looking into different scenarios that may have happened," he told the Oxford Mail.
"It's pretty clear to the guys that no sexual activities are acceptable at our show, and that's not standard stuff we would expect to happen.
"If there's a specific performer that's done something you're not supposed to, the performer would be taken out of the show."
