Alex Scott message delivered amid three-way transfer battle
Bournemouth defender Antonio Silva has compared Alex Scott to Joao Neves and Enzo Fernandez following his immense start to the 2026-27 season.
The 23-year-old made his England debut during the recent international break and he was one of the standout performers in the Three Lions’ eye-catching 7-0 rout of Croatia in Rijeka at the start of October.
Scott, who will miss at least the next month after picking up an injury while on international duty, has arguably been Bournemouth’s best player so far this season, and his form has attracted the attention of several top European clubs.
Chelsea were heavily linked with a move for the England midfielder over the summer and it’s understood that they remain the frontrunners to secure his signature as they look to bolster the first-team options at Xabi Alonso’s disposal.
However, The Telegraph have confirmed that both Arsenal and Liverpool also hold strong interest in Scott, with the Bournemouth star set to be the subject of a transfer tug-of-war next year.
It has been widely reported that a January sale will not be permitted as Marco Rose’s side look to win the Europa League, but Scott will have just one year remaining on his current contract next summer and with renewal talks yet to result in a positive outcome, a deal is highly likely to be arranged ahead of the 2027-28 campaign.
Chelsea are expected to be at the front of the queue to land the former Bristol City starlet, although Arsenal and Liverpool will provide strong competition as both clubs aim to improve their midfield roster.
Alex Scott message
Scott has established himself as one of the most promising central midfielders in European football over the past 12 months and Silva has admitted that he has a similar talent level to both Neves and Fernandez.
“He's a baller,” Silva admitted to Transfermarkt when asked about his Bournemouth team-mate.
“I already knew that he was a very good player. I have played with some good midfielders in Benfica with Joao Neves and Enzo Fernandez and I think he's right up there. He has the capacity to attack, to defend, to win duels, to assist, so he's a very competitive player and it's a pleasure to have him here at Bournemouth.”
