Bruno Fernandes suggests he doesn't 'care' about Man Utd plight anymore
Bruno Fernandes has caused some controversy with his recent social media activity.
The Manchester United captain was dropped from the starting XI for United's Premier League clash against Bournemouth on Sunday - a game they would go on to lose 3-0 without him.
The demotion came after Fernandes had publicly questioned the tactics of manager Michael Carrick following a humbling 4-1 defeat away at Como in the Champions League a week ago.
Carrick said after the Bournemouth loss that the decision to drop Fernandes was tactical, telling reporters:
"He's fit and available but we decided to pick the team that we did today. Unfortunately for everyone we didn't manage to get the right result. We want to push forward and create more, we could've done certain things but not enough really and that's pretty clear."
Though the Man Utd boss played down suggestions of a possible rift, Fernandes has not been as coy on the subject.
In the aftermath of the defeat, the midfielder liked an Instagram reel featuring the caption: "Never push a loyal person to the point they no longer care."
The video depicted a colossal rock figure shielding a small town from an enormous boulder. After being fired upon by the very people it is trying to protect, the figure lets go of the rock, allowing it to crush the settlement and sweep it into the sea.
Words under the video read:
"The person holding everything together is usually the one nobody thinks to check on.
"Every family, friend group, and team has one. The one who shows up no matter what. The one who listens, fixes, covers, and carries more than anyone realises.
"They don't complain about it. They just keep holding things up because that's who they are.
"But loyal people get taken for granted faster than anyone. Their effort starts to feel automatic, and their patience gets mistaken for weakness. People push, take, and test them, assuming they'll always stay.
"Until one day, they don't. There's no big fight or dramatic exit. They just quietly stop caring, stop trying, and let go. And everything they were holding up comes crashing down with them.
"Most people never realise how much weight someone was carrying until the day they finally let it fall."
It is likely that Carrick will face the sack soon, as Man Utd have had a dismal start to the new Premier League season with just one victory in their opening eight games.
Fernandes' form hasn't helped, as he has gone six Premier League games and two Champions League games without a goal contribution. He has four goals to his name, but they came across two games against newly promoted Ipswich and Champions League new boys Sabah.
