Chelsea remain interested in signing Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott and the England international has caused a frisson of excitement following his activity on social media.

Scott was identified as a top target by the Chelsea hierarchy over the summer and the club were eager to bring him to Stamford Bridge as a replacement for Enzo Fernandez, who joined Manchester City for a British record transfer fee of €145 million on Deadline Day.

However, Bournemouth had no interest in offloading the 22-year-old, having recently sold the likes of Antoine Semenyo, Milos Kerkez, Dean Huijsen and Ilya Zabarnyi, and new boss Marco Rose ultimately blocked a deal.

Eli Junior Kroupi and Rayan were also prevented from leaving the Cherries before the window closes and reports speculate that each player could fetch Bournemouth close to €120m next year.

Chelsea pursued Lamine Camara and Manu Kone on Deadline Day, in response to Bournemouth’s stance on a deal for Scott, but they were unable to bring either player to Stamford Bridge and their midfield pursuit will therefore resume when the January transfer window opens.

Arsenal star Martin Zubimendi is also on the Blues’ radar, amid his lack of game time at the Emirates Stadium so far this season, however it’s understood that Scott remains the club’s top target following his immense recent form for Bournemouth.

The England star, who is expected to be included in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the Three Lions’ upcoming Nations League fixtures, was reportedly open to joining Chelsea over the summer and his recent activity on Instagram suggests that he would jump at the chance to play with Morgan Rogers in west London.

Agent Morgan Rogers?

While Scott is still yet to make his senior debut for England, he was included in two camps last season and he appears to have struck up a close relationship with Rogers.

Following his star performance against Leeds United in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, in which he provided four assists after coming on as a half-time substitute, Rogers posted a picture catalogue on Instagram, prompting Scott to comment “4?” in response.

Scott’s comment has been liked over 7,000 times and more than 400 fans have replied urging him to join Rogers at Chelsea.

Rogers himself was persuaded to join the Blues by England team-mates Cole Palmer and Reece James over the summer, and he could play a similar role in convincing Scott to leave Bournemouth for Stamford Bridge in 2027.
