Arsenal Transfer News Today: Vinicius Jr deal on as formal negotiations confirmed
All the latest Arsenal transfer news in one place, including updates on Vinicius Jr, John Stones and Eli Kroupi.
Exclusive: Money is no object for Arsenal
FootballTransfers understands that Arsenal are willing to do whatever it takes financially to sign Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr.
The Gunners' interest in the Brazil international emerged over the weekend, with the club keen to potentially exploit his ongoing contract stalemate with Real Madrid. Vini only has a year left on his deal and could be made available for transfer if no breakthrough is made.
There are no club-to-club discussions with Real Madrid at this stage, but Arsenal are ready to move decisively if the 26-year-old indicates a desire to make the move to North London. Agreeing a financial package would not be an issue because Arsenal are willing to break the bank for him.
Vinicius set for new contract talks
It is important to remember that a move to Arsenal could only become a realistic scenario if Vinicius fails to reach a contract agreement with Real Madrid, which is the current priority for everyone involved.
Indeed, Sky Sports reports that Los Blancos will hold crunch talks with the Brazilian winger this week in an effort to make progress before the situation escalates.
New Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho reportedly considers Vinicius untouchable. At the same time, Real Madrid have no intention of losing him for nothing next year, so they would reluctantly have to greenlight an exit should the situation remain deadlocked.
Inter stepping up Stones pursuit
Inter are set to sign former Man City defender John Stones after holding formal talks with him on Monday, Fabrizio Romano understands.
The England star is a free agent after leaving Man City and is expected to sign a two-year contract at the San Siro after greenlighting the move on Monday evening.
Arsenal have been linked with Stones in recent days, with Romano previously confirming that the centre-back received "proposals" from unnamed Premier League clubs. Juventus had also been in talks with his entourage before he chose Inter.
Kroupi latest
Arsenal appear to be no longer seriously involved in the race to sign Bournemouth forward Eli Kroupi, as per Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer insider has revealed that the French youngster has been the subject of approaches from Barcelona and Man City in recent weeks, with both clubs genuinely interested in doing a deal. There is no mention of Arsenal.
All of his suitors could end up empty-handed, however, with Bournemouth not changing their stance that Kroupi is not for sale this summer. As a result, doing a deal would be incredibly expensive.
