Arsenal join Man Utd in race for €80m star as left winger pursuit ramps up
Arsenal have joined Manchester United in the race to sign €80million-rated (£70m) Everton star Iliman Ndiaye, according to the Daily Mail.
Ndiaye has developed a reputation as one of the Premier League’s best dribblers since joining Everton from Marseille in 2024.
The 26-year-old has scored 17 goals in 71 appearances for the Toffees, and he has also been included in Senegal’s squad for the World Cup.
However, speculation has started to swirl regarding Ndiaye’s long-term future after The Athletic revealed he has turned down several contract offers from Everton, who were keen to reward him for his early-season form.
The Athletic understands there has been no falling out between the Everton hierarchy and the former Sheffield United man, who is contracted until 2029.
The same publication claims Ndiaye is only keen to sign fresh terms provided a release clause, which can be activated as early as this summer, is included - a proposal Everton have rejected.
And now the Mail understands that Arsenal - alongside Man Utd and their rivals Manchester City - are closely watching developments.
BBC Sport are claiming Arsenal have made signing a new left-sided attacker a priority this summer - a position Ndiaye is comfortable in.
The same outlet reported on Friday however that the Gunners are considering a €40.5m (£35m) move for Club Brugge’s Christos Tzolis.
Greece international Tzolis, 24, scored 17 goals and recorded 23 assists in the Belgian Pro League last season.
United set to pip Arsenal to Fernandes signing
Meanwhile United have been loosely linked with Ndiaye in recent weeks, though the club are believed to be focused on signing central midfielders.
The Times reported on Friday that the Red Devils are poised to beat Arsenal to the €92m (£80m) signing of West Ham United star Mateus Fernandes.
Fernandes, 21, is expected to leave the Hammers, who need to raise funds after suffering relegation from the Premier League last season.
United have also agreed a deal with Serie A side Atalanta to sign Ederson for €40.5m (£35m), but the completion of the transfer is likely to be held up after the midfielder received a late call-up to Brazil’s World Cup squad.
Man City have second Anderson offer turned down
Meanwhile, Man City are also hoping to strengthen in the middle of the park this summer, with the club having had a second offer worth up to €139m (£120m) rejected by Nottingham Forest for Elliot Anderson, according to BBC Sport.
Anderson, who is expected to start for England in their World Cup opener against Croatia next Wednesday, was also a target for United, but BBC Sport understands they are now backing out of their pursuit.
Ndiaye, on the other hand, will be hoping to feature from the get-go when Senegal lock horns with France in their World Cup opener next Tuesday.
