Liverpool stunned as Barcelona target €100m Lamine Yamal 'partner'
Barcelona reportedly want to sign RB Leipzig superstar Yan Diomande this summer as they target a player capable of forming an immense wing partnership with Lamine Yamal.
The Ivory Coast international has enjoyed a sensational debut campaign at Leipzig, following his arrival from Leganes, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists in just 29 games across all competitions.
His electric form this season has unsurprisingly alerted scouts from across Europe and the likes of Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Manchester United have all been heavily linked with pursuing a move for the 19-year-old during the upcoming summer transfer window.
However, it is Liverpool who have been credited with the most significant interest. The Reds are in the market for a new winger following confirmation that Mohamed Salah will depart on a Bosman deal this summer, and they have earmarked Diomande as a top candidate for the role.
The Ivorian is capable of playing on either flank and Arne Slot’s side are ready to battle for the winger when the 2025-26 season concludes, with a fee of €100 million set to be required as Leipzig aim to earn a major profit this year.
Despite this, Barcelona are now expected to challenge Liverpool for Diomande’s signature, as per Fichajes.
Yan Diomande to Barcelona?
It’s claimed that Barcelona have identified Diomande as the perfect wing partner for the aforementioned Yamal amid their pursuit of a “promising young talent.”
Raphinha remains Hansi Flick’s preferred option on the left flank, however the Blaugrana reportedly want to bolster their squad with the addition of Diomande, although the finances involved could prove problematic.
A move for the Ivory Coast superstar would likely result in Barcelona opting against signing Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal when his loan spell expires in July.
The England international had been expected to rejoin the Blaugrana this summer, however their desire to sign Diomande promises to complicate a permanent move to Camp Nou.
