Liverpool may have only won two Premier League titles during the competition’s existence, but they remain one of England’s very biggest clubs.

The Reds’ triumph in the 2005 Champions League final was followed by a period of very little domestic success and Fenway Sports Group (FSG) purchased the club in October 2010.

Although Liverpool remained near mid-table obscurity for several years, they soon mounted a title charge under Brendan Rodgers before Jurgen Klopp was hired in October 2015.

Under Klopp, Liverpool were the closest challengers to Manchester City and they won a Premier League and Champions League title during the German's reign. He left during the summer of 2024 and was replaced by Arne Slot.

Slot led Liverpool to their second Premier League title in his first season in charge and was rewarded with record-breaking backing in the transfer market the following summer.

Below, we run through how much Liverpool have spent since FSG took over.

How much have Liverpool spent on transfers under FSG?

Liverpool have spent a total of €1.999 billion (€1,999 million) on transfers since FSG took over in 2010.

After taking charge in October 2010, FSG spent €67.5 million on transfers during their first transfer window as Liverpool owners (2011 January window), although their two big-money arrivals enjoyed varying degrees of success at Anfield.

Andy Carroll failed to impress, while Luis Suarez went on to become one of their greatest ever signings.

After several years of spending under €75m, FSG began investing heavily in 2014. Liverpool spent €149.4m during the 2014-15 season, followed by €127.5m in 2015-16.

Their biggest spending season yet came in 2018-19. The Reds splashed a whopping €182.5m on new signings that year, adding the likes of Alisson, Naby Keita and Fabinho.

They wouldn't crack the €100m mark again until 2022-23, before repeating this feat the following season when they had to replace numerous ageing key players.

They kept their powder dry in 2024-25, which allowed them to break the Premier League record on incoming transfers twice in the summer of 2025 when they acquired Florian Wirtz (€125m) and then Alexander Isak (€145m), while also spending sizeable fees on Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Giovanni Leoni.
