Chelsea have been a force to be reckoned with throughout the Premier League era, with their spending power dwarfing the majority of other English top-flight clubs.
The exorbitant spending happened under Roman Abramovich and continues under the BlueCo ownership of Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghabli, but domestic success has diminished despite their ludicrous outlay since taking over the Blues in 2022.

How much have Chelsea spent on transfers under Todd Boehly?
Chelsea have spent a total of €1.69 billion on transfers since Boehly took charge in 2022.
His first major signing after becoming the owner at Stamford Bridge was Raheem Sterling. The Englishman joined Chelsea for €56.2m from Manchester City after a trophy-laden spell with Pep Guardiola’s side but his time at Stamford Bridge was largely seen as a failure.
Kalidou Koulibaly, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Marc Cucurella, Wesley Fofana, Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei also joined Chelsea for a fee during Boehly’s first transfer window in charge.
Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk were the highlight arrivals in January 2023 (Boehly’s second transfer window at Chelsea), while the Blues’ ludicrous spending continued six months later with the purchases of Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Christopher Nkunku, among others.
The following summer, Chelsea spent big again, with Pedro Neto, Joao Felix and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall among those to join the club. Mathis Amougou then arrived in January 2025.
Chelsea’s biggest spending season under Boehly came in 2022-23. The Blues spent a whopping €612.4m on new signings during Boehly’s first campaign at the club, with Fernandez, Fofana, Mudryk and Cucurella all arriving for more than €60m.
