Fabrizio Romano announces Premier League club in manager sack talks
Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner has been summoned before the board to discuss his immediate future, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Austrian has hit the headlines numerous times this term. Crystal Palace initially enjoyed a great start to the season, but their form has fallen off a cliff since late 2025 as their small squad has struggled to cope with European football.
The Eagles, who were battling for a spot in the Champions League just a couple of months ago, are now at serious risk of being sucked into a relegation battle.
Amid this downturn in form, Glasner has repeatedly criticised Steve Parish and other club chiefs for their lack of ambition in the transfer market. Although Palace spent big in January, it was too little too late.
Captain Marc Guehi left for Man City - and was not replaced - and Glasner himself announced that he would not renew his expiring contract. Following Guehi's exit, he fired a remarkable broadside at his higher-ups, which many felt was a sackable offence. At the time, Palace stuck with him.
Glasner could now be sacked
However, patience with Glasner is increasingly running thin. On Thursday, the Eagles slumped to a 1-1 draw with Bosnian side Zrinjski Mostar in the Conference League, a competition they are expected to win.
Although the second leg will take place at Selhurst Park next week, Glasner may no longer have a job by that point. According to Fabrizio Romano, discussions are currently taking place over the Austrian's immediate future.
The transfer insider reports that Glasner's exit could come "shortly" should the Palace board indeed decide to relieve him of his duties. It comes after Palace fans made their feelings on the 51-year-old clear.
Even though Glasner is the most successful coach in Palace history, the supporters have now turned on him, and they were chanting for him to go during the match against Mostar.
Should he leave now rather than in June, it would continue a trend of acrimonious exits. Despite success with Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt, he previously left both clubs on poor terms.
This latest episode will have also discredited him in the eyes of big clubs. Glasner is believed to be a candidate for the Man Utd job, but INEOS want someone who is malleable and accepts his role. Glasner is the opposite of that.
