Chelsea face race against time to sign one of the world's most lethal strikers
Chelsea have been put on red alert following reports that Atletico Madrid have earmarked Victor Osimhen as their top transfer target for 2026.
The Nigeria superstar has been heavily linked with a Stamford Bridge switch for the past three years, but the Blues have been unwilling to match his wage demands and a transfer has therefore never materialised.
Rumours have suggested that Liam Rosenior’s side are expected to pursue a new forward this summer, despite the imminent arrivals of Emmanuel Emegha and Dastan Satpaev, although they will be required to act quickly if they want to finally secure Osimhen’s signature.
That is because he has been identified as Atletico Madrid’s priority target for the upcoming transfer window, according to Fichajes.
Diego Simeone’s side face the prospect of losing star striker Julian Alvarez ahead of the 2026-27 season, amid significant interest from Arsenal and Barcelona, and they have reportedly sounded out Osimhen as a perfect replacement if the Argentina international departs.
Victor Osimhen to Atletico Madrid?
Osimhen completed a €75 million permanent move to Galatasaray last summer, following a successful loan spell at the club, but the Atletico Madrid hierarchy are ready to enter into negotiations over a bombshell deal later this year.
The 27-year-old has scored 15 goals and provided one assist in 21 games for Galatasaray so far this campaign and Atletico Madrid are keen to bring him to the Wanda Metropolitano this summer.
His style of play is regarded as an ideal fit for Simeone’s style of play and the Spanish giants are eager to finalise a deal as they look to challenge Barcelona and Real Madrid for the title next season.
However, Osimhen still has over three years remaining on his current contract at Galatasaray and Atletico Madrid will likely be required to submit a major offer if they want to secure his signature.
