Douglas Luiz signs for Aston Villa and five transfers that could be completed this week
The 2026 January transfer window is into its final week and several high-profile deals are likely to be completed before Deadline Day on 2 February.
The majority of elite clubs, with the exception of Manchester City, have been incredibly inactive in the market this month, but a number of late transfers are still expected to take place over the next few days.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through five deals that could be completed this week.
Tammy Abraham - Besiktas to Aston Villa
Besiktas have officially completed the signing of AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham for €13 million, but they are set to immediately offload him on a permanent deal to Aston Villa.
The former England international has enjoyed a stellar start to the 2025-26 campaign, notching 13 goals in 26 games, and he is on the verge of making a return to Villa Park following a successful loan spell at the club seven years ago.
Abraham’s imminent arrival comes after Donyell Malen’s departure to Roma, and he will provide competition for first choice number nine Ollie Watkins.
Axel Disasi - Chelsea to West Ham
Axel Disasi hasn’t played for Chelsea since a substitute appearance against Wolverhampton Wanderers on 20 January 2025, and he has been exiled ever since returning from a short loan stint at Aston Villa last summer.
The Frenchman was placed in the club’s ‘Bomb Squad’ before the 2025-26 season kicked off, but Chelsea were unable to facilitate an exit and he has been forced to train alone for the past few months.
He is widely expected to leave in January and West Ham are the latest club to initiate talks with Chelsea over a loan deal, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side eager to reach an agreement amid their bid to survive relegation back to the Championship.
Oscar Bobb - Man City to Fulham
Oscar Bobb looked destined for a stellar Manchester City career after a highly promising pre-season in 2024, but a broken leg stalled his development and he has been unable to work his way back into favour under Pep Guardiola.
The arrival of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth earlier this month has pushed Bobb further down the pecking order, and Fulham are now close to announcing a permanent deal.
The Norway international has reached a full agreement over a January move to Craven Cottage, with Marco Silva’s side set to win the race for his signature amid competition from Borussia Dortmund.
Lucas Paqueta - West Ham to Flamengo
Lucas Paqueta is set to finally leave West Ham United after a three-and-a-half year spell at the club, with the Brazil midfielder on the verge of returning to Flamengo.
A €41.3m bid has been accepted by the West Ham hierarchy and Paqueta is close to rejoining his boyhood club after pushing to leave east London over the past few weeks.
The 28-year-old, who was heavily linked with Aston Villa last summer, will become the most expensive player in Brazilian top flight history when the deal is finalised.
Douglas Luiz - Juventus to Aston Villa
Douglas Luiz initially looked set to join Chelsea on loan for the remainder of the season, but they have officially been beaten to his signature by his former employers Aston Villa.
The Brazil star, who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest from Juventus, has reached a full agreement to rejoin Unai Emery’s side on a temporary deal with an option-to-buy clause included.
The transfer has reportedly been fully agreed between all parties and Luiz is expected to be announced as an Aston Villa player once again shortly.
