Guehi, 25, has been a standout performer for Crystal Palace so far this season, registering seven goal contributions in 31 matches across all competitions, and we can confirm that Man City have initiated contact over a January switch.

Sources have informed FootballTransfers that Guehi is keen to complete a move to the Etihad Stadium this month and that he would now prefer to join Man City over fellow suitors Liverpool.

The Reds were close to finalising a deal for Guehi’s signature on Transfer Deadline Day last summer, but Crystal Palace were reluctant to sell the 25-year-old and the proposed move collapsed at the last minute.

Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and several other top European clubs have been linked with a Bosman move for Guehi this summer, but FootballTransfers understands that a January switch to Man City could be on the cards instead.

Marc Guehi to join Man City?

Man City have initiated talks over a winter deal for Guehi following the injuries suffered by first-choice centre-back duo Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol during their 1-1 draw versus Chelsea on Sunday evening.

The pair were both substituted in the second-half against Chelsea and following the match, Guardiola told BBC Radio 5 Live: “We have a lot [of injuries]. John Stones is missing for I don't know how many months. Ruben now will be out, Josko will be out.

“Nathan [Ake], always we know he cannot play regularly. It's the situation - stay strong and we will find a solution. The spirit is there and will be there.”

Man City have already recalled promising young defender Max Alleyne from his loan spell at Watford to cover for the current injury issues at centre-back, but the club are also interested in bringing Guehi to the Etihad Stadium before the end of the month.
