Thierry Nevers, 23, was born in Reading and came through the Reading academy before joining West Ham in 2021.

He never made a senior appearance for the Premier League side and subsequently spend time on loan at Newport County and then Bradford City.

Nevers left West Ham permanently in 2024 for Sheriff Tiraspol and then joined Croatian outfit NK Varaždin.

This week, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and was jailed for three years at Lincoln Crown Court on Monday after evidence emerged of contact between him and known dealer Alan Barrass of Dorrington.

Barrass was arrested on 6 August August after police found cannabis, cocaine, a knife, a baton, a baseball bat and a sawn-off shotgun in his home. He admitted being involved in the supply of Class A and Class B drugs, producing a controlled drug, and possession of a firearm.

Nevers, his associate, was arrested a week later. The police reported that the former footballer bragged about dealing Class A drugs on Instagram.

Det Sgt Adam Petty, who oversaw the investigation, said: "Drugs have a terrible impact on our communities and will never be tolerated.

"As well as the suffering caused to users, drug dealing brings violence and an uplift in theft offences, and often, as is seen in this case, the possession of dangerous weapons.

"We will continue to listen to the public and work with our communities to target anyone dealing drugs."
