Chelsea are reportedly pushing to beat Manchester City and Real Madrid to the signing of Leicester City wonderkid Jeremy Monga.

The 16-year-old, who became the youngest goalscorer in Championship history earlier this season, is regarded as one of the top prospects in English football and his progress is being closely watched by almost every Premier League club.

Monga, an England U19 international, has already made 21 first-team appearances for Leicester and he has emerged as a key January transfer target for a number of top teams as per TEAMtalk.

It’s claimed that Chelsea and Man City are among the frontrunners for his signature next month, with both clubs viewing Monga as a future investment for their attack.

Meanwhile, La Liga giants Real Madrid are also eager to land the talented teenager and reports suggest he is viewed as a suitable long-term replacement for Vinicius Junior, who continues to be linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

Jeremy Monga to join Chelsea?

Chelsea have prioritised signing talented youngsters since the arrival of Clearlake Capital as their new owners in 2022 and Monga is therefore the latest wonderkid to be identified as a key target by the club’s recruitment team.

The Blues have already finalised deals for Emmanuel Emegha, Geovany Quenda, Dastan Satpaev and Denner to move to Stamford Bridge next year, while they continue to be linked with teenagers across world football.

However, Leicester are under no pressure to sell, as per TEAMtalk. Monga signed fresh terms at the club over the summer and he is expected to pen his first professional contract at the King Power Stadium when he turns 17 years old next July.

As a result, finalising a January deal is set to be extremely difficult and Chelsea may be forced to wait until next summer or perhaps even 2027 to agree a transfer for Monga.
